I honestly think/am desperately hoping that it’s not an Asami vs Korra on Mako.

Instead, I think Asami might confront Mako first about it!

Of course, this is bad for Mako because he loses a lot more respect points from the fandom, because that encounter is just going to end badly. But I think that’s how it’ll turn out, anyway.

I can’t exactly put into words WHY I think this would happen, but I think it’s the next logical and not-as-douchey-as-Asami-vs.-Korra move. We haven’t seen some one-on-one Masami conversations in a while (and I don’t count The Aftermath interactions as one-on-one because Bolin was there), so I really want to see their relationship explored a bit more?

This episode made me realize how much I loved Korra because I really wanted her to succeed. Her faults and failings of “being the Avatar” was put in the spotlight because she’s still not airbending, she hasn’t accomplished anything in terms of resolving the Equalist movement—if anything, she’s another burden to the Republic City problem. Maybe that’s how she’s thinking about it.

What really got me in When Extremes Meet was when we see her crying by herself.

The first time we really saw her cry was in front of Tenzin in The Voice in the Night, where she finally admits her fears to him. Why was this cry session so significant to me?

Well, I mean, because, maybe that’s how she’s been letting out her emotions her whole life!

She’s always been “alone”, she’s always had to carry this burden on herself, and she’s also human. Crying doesn’t make her weak! It really showcases her strength because she’s done this for so long.

THEN HERE COME PABU, BOLIN, MAKO, AND ASAMI TO RUIN HER CRYFEST!

And she opens up to them.

And they tell her that they’re there for her.

That they’re her friends, and she can lean on them.

I’m sure everyone in the fandom has been discussing on how Korra needs friends. Well here they are! And they’re ready to go through hellfire with her. She doesn’t feel so alone anymore.

And Tarrlok arrests them.

Don’t tell me you wouldn’t confront Tarrlok himself if he took away your real friends because that shit was serious. It was a huge blow to her, and she went on FULL DEFENSIVE mode and tried to get her friends back.

Which is where we are now.

Korra, baby, I cannot wait until we see you again next week.
